Volaris is an ultra low-cost Mexican airline with more than 60 destinations in Mexico, USA, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. Like most low-fare airlines, it charges extra for nearly everything, from advanced seat assignments, to sandwiches to carry-on bags. However, they tout that for the same price of a bus ticket, flyers can save 10-25 hours on the road. time is money?

Airline website shows prices in Mexican Dollars. $ 1 USD = $ 18.63 MXN

Expedia & other travel sites are returning higher pricing so book direct with Volaris [volaris.com] – site defaults in Spanish, so change the flag located on the upper right hand to USA for English.

Alternatively, All Nippon Airways, a more superior airline in terms of service & quality, will be starting new NONSTOP service from ORD and JFK to Haneda beginning October 30, 2016. However, price for that is about approx $ 992 roundtrip.

Unfortunatlely, Google flights is not showing the $ 521 (it is showing $ 667) dates so when on Expedia [expedia.com], choose departures of Tues, Wed, Thur, Sun (no mid Dec – mid Jan)
