Hold off on porting out of Ringplus

I just received this email. It looks like there may be some hope for getting something out of the money we have put into Ringplus. I am going to wait and see what happens.

Don’t hate, just trying help people potentially hold on to their balances. I am not sure if I believe it or not, but it’s at least a chance to leave with more than nothing.

RingPlus is currently in discussions with other MVNOs (wireless carriers) that are ready to take over your service on their plans. Your Top Up balance will be credited by the other MVNO as a courtesy. Additional benefits will likely be available. If you port out now, you will lose your top up balance. You will be informed on how the switch will be completed as well as the information about the carrier later today. If you are interested in participating in the process, please do not initiate a port at this time. RingPlus and the other MVNO will work out a transition process, and infom you of the details very soon. (Unfortuantely, I you have already initiated or completed a port out, you will not be able to participate in this process.)

yea yea yea i know ring plus *groan*
but some of us are still trying to make the most of our top up balances

RingPlus just added a new rule here [ringplus.net]:

"If your talk, text or data usage exceeds 50% of your total voice, text or data usage for any prior billing cycle in the immediately prior 6 months, RingPlus may, in its sole discretion and without notice, expire, suspend, terminate or downgrade your Service."

And there is a discussion about this new rule [ringplus.net] in RingPlus Foru.

Existing Ring Plus Free plan members who are stuck at a throttled LTE (256k) speeds are now eligible to change their plan to Full Speed 100MB LTE with "Ice Cream" Free plan.

Login to your account and upgrade/change the plan.

FYI, Plan change becomes effective at next plan cycle; as we will be switching from a Free plan to another Free plan.

$ 10 auto topup needed. If you account balance is >$ 10, then we just pay the taxes which are around $ 1.65.

Hope this helps someone to upgrade from 256k LTE to Full Speed LTE on RingPlus.

I just activated a sprint alcatel flip phone (SPP ALCATEL 2017B FLIP) from the walgreen (the $ 1.99 deal couple days ago)

Looks like FED is not in effect yet.

If you still have phones that were not able to be activated last night because of the error message, you might want to try now.
