My machine just recently updated to Windows.24H2 update. After this update, the machine no longer comes out of sleep mode by touching the keyboard or mouse. It seems this is a common problem across many brands (HP, Gateway etc). I researched this, and some said to update the bios. I reached out the Gateway, and they said there is no update for the Bios, even though mine has a 2021 bios. The gateway customer service rep offered me two chip updates, but she gave no information about them (Sent me 2 Zip files). And she said, if that doesn’t work, reset your machine. I am skeptical to install updates to the graphics and chips from a Gateway rep that I have no information on, and I have to accept her updates blindly. I believe this is the lowest price this computer has been available at. It is often available on sale for $ 1,399, but this is the first time I have seen it at $ 1,349.

Acemagic has the 16" RX16 laptop with the AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU on sale for $ 509, with the code ACENEWY10 you can save another $ 10, so it costs $ 499 instead of the list price of $ 699.

The Ryzen 9 6900HX CPU is relatively fast, even if it is not the latest AMD CPU generation (Zen 3+), but with a TDP of 45W it is somewhat power hungry for a laptop. The Radeon 680i iGPU runs older games reasonably well at FHD or the built in 1920×1200 display.

With this kind of laptop, I recommend booting it once, exporting the Windows license key just in case, and then installing a fresh, clean Windows 11 image directly from Microsoft along with drivers from the hardware manufacturers.
