This matches Apple EDU pricing for those who don’t qualify. Not sure on the debacle around SSD speeds and M1 Pro vs M2 Pro overall. For $ 250 more ($ 1599 seems to be the lowest reliable price the M1 Pro hits), the newer model is slightly more future proof.
